AND SO IT GOES......Mike Johnson is not immune

The BOROWITZ REPORT TODAY

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—

Mike Johnson had no comment on Thursday after Donald J. Trump demolished the House Speaker’s family home.
Johnson had reportedly been asleep when a backhoe came crashing through the wall of his master bedroom, sending the Speaker and his wife fleeing for safety.
At the White House, press secretary Karoline Leavitt offered scant explanation for Trump’s decision to level Johnson’s dwelling, saying only that he “felt like it.”
After initially refusing to comment, Johnson told reporters that he was “sure the President had a perfectly good reason for doing it” and invited Trump to total his car.

Suggesting a little action on behalf of our beloved California Peggy

Here is her post about upcoming exploratory surgery,
https://www.democraticunderground.com/1036152178
and her stalwart and stoic acceptation of a scary hard time in the near future.

We hear the phrase “thoughts and prayers” so much that I have stopped saying it a good while back.
Especially in these turbulent days.

May I tell you about an African proverb that has recently come to my attention and I have begun to love and apply whenever possible:

The African proverb, often quoted as "When you pray, move your feet," emphasizes that faith requires action, not just words or thoughts. It serves as a call to action, reminding people to actively participate in the process of achieving their goals or making a difference in the world, combining spiritual belief with practical effort to manifest change.

Now I realize we are a widespread group, and can’t move our feet with our prayers and our thoughts during her ordeal.
What we can do is send her a few words she is not expecting, and tell her what she means to us.

So I missed "Summer" in more ways than one

It's been a rough summer for me. I got sick on June 16th and am only now slowly recovering from back surgery.
Onward and upward, though, with gratitude, and the surgery was a success.
I haven't looked at the entries or winners yet, but I will take care of that directly.

I ran across this photo just now, and liked it. It was the impetus to tell you I am on my way back.
I guess I took it, I recognize aspects of my backyard, but I barely remember.

Just saying hello, and "don't cry for me, Argentina" - I am going to be returning, and in much better shape at that.

If you love Vincent - let's Gogh and look

There is an immersive experience happening at my city, showing the works of Vincent Van Gogh in grand scale. Information about his life, copies of his work and a huge room with visuals of them streamed around.
I could not get enough of it. Here are some photos I took with my phone, and I was very glad for the little girl in the foreground.

They had a life-size installation to reproduce his bedroom in Arles. The woman who stepped in to look out the window is my friend and neighbor, Dani.

Another friend commented: “Sad he could never know how hugely famous and loved he ended up being”.
Another, highly spiritual friend, looked at her and said:
“He knows it now!”

A fitting companion to the other incompetents - It is Andy Borowitz's idea, and I can see it clearly

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In what experts are calling one of the most remarkable comebacks for a convicted sex offender in recent memory, on Friday Donald J. Trump announced that he was replacing Attorney General Pam Bondi with Ghislaine Maxwell.
Explaining his decision, Trump said, "Pam said there’s a client list, and Ghislaine said there isn't. So I have decided Ghislaine would be better at this job than Pam."
In another stunning reversal of fortune, Trump announced that Bondi would be taking Maxwell’s place in prison, adding, “I wish her well.”
He said he was confident that Maxwell would receive speedy confirmation by Senate Republicans, noting, “If they confirmed Hegseth they’ll confirm anyone.”

Uplifting and Adorable in Hard Times

I had to get my car inspected today. I was in a dingy waiting room. Stenciled on the wall were two sentences:
"DO NOT TRY TO PET THE DOG, HE WILL BITE" and the other "DO NOT REACH INTO THE OPENING OF THE GLASS AT THE PAYMENT WINDOW."
Intimidated, expecting Cujo behind the glass I approached to pay, keeping my distance, asking: "Is the dog nearby?"
And then I saw this:

A grandmother was running the little business, and she was raising her 3 year old grandchild between customer interruptions.
This made my day so much happier.
