A.I. BS

An anecdotal peek into the world of A.I.

So our Lexus car dealer has implemented an A.I. call assistant. We recently received a phone call from "Lexy," the name they have given their A.I. program. Lexy tells us our car is due for service. Strange, because we just had our 15,000 mile service less than 2 months ago. So my wife calls up the dealer and it took several minutes to get past this pest aka Lexy. When she finally gets to talk to a human and explains the situation, the man at the dealer sighs heavily. He then goes on to bitch about their new A.I. assistant, telling my wife this A.I. "monster" is screwing up everything and pissing off all the Lexus customers.

Is this the future of A.I.? Sowing confusion and anger, driving away customers? How much are people spending on this crap?

righteous rants

I seem to be seeing more and more righteous rants from people lately. Regular people, not our Congresscritters. Is the tide turning against Trump and Musk?

Here's a snip from one re Musk:

Some guys just buy a sports car when they have their midlife crisis but Musk is out here lobbing 400 foot phalli at Mars all day long and using us to bankroll it. He shouldn't be allowed to play sandbox with our country just because he has a disgusting amount of money. He has zero business being involved with our government. I'm not even going to start digging into the damage and theft from the corny DOGE puppet show that has people so enthralled and fooled. It's just more theater, and they're not even trying that hard anymore because their base is just that gullible.

If I had to guess what Elon is doing right now I'd guess he's probably deep in a K-hole, manically tweet-trolling the libs, or desperately trying to breed one more influencer in his own personal Führerbunker, the Banyan Cottage at Mar-a-Lago. Maybe all at the same time. Maybe he's contemplating his getaway: self-exile to Russia or possibly a rocketship to Mars. Elon is smart enough to recognize that this situation ultimately cannot be unf*cked and this is spiralling out of control. The wheels are really coming off now. His rockets are crashing. Tesla is crashing. Planes are crashing. The illusion of competency is collapsing too. This house of cards cannot hold much longer. Wherever we go from here, we're going there fast and it's bound to be exciting.

I can't post a video from YouTube (now I can!)

Edit: I forgot that you have to put SOMETHING in the Discussion Title field before any video will even show up in the Discussion Text.

I would have sworn I could do this a few months ago, if not more recently. Has anything changed? Am I getting too old and CRS (Can't Remember Shit) any longer?

Could someone give me a quick lesson on posting a video from YouTube onto here?

Facebook software is screwing up

...I wonder if it is intentional? But why scare away users?

Over the last few weeks, when I see a number by the "Notification" symbol, I have not been able to view the Notifications. Oh look, I have 5 Notifications, and yet, I cannot view them. This affects my Google Pixel phone, my iMac desktop and my HP desktop.

In addition, if I see a post I would like to comment on, I click the Comment link, and if there are already a lot of comments on the post, the software will not display any of the comments, and I can "post" a comment, but I cannot view it after I post it. This has also been going on for a few weeks now. If the post has only a couple of comments, I will be able to read them and contribute a comment, but if there are already a lot of comments, I can't view any of them.

Anyone else experiencing this? In these paranoid times, I assume maybe I have been flagged as a liberal, and they are fucking up my feed to make me, what, leave the platform?

I'd been thinking about leaving Facebook, and it feels like they are trying to push me out the door.

how many firings?

...anyone know if anyone is keeping a running total of how many government workers have been fired so far? Or is trying to? As usual, reality is murky, clouded by all the bullshit spewing from Trump and Musk and right-wing lackeys. They are firing these people, firing those people, etc. But is anyone keeping actual numbers? I would be surprised if Trump or Musk were even keeping score. Seems like a pace that is going to show up in upcoming unemployment stats. If they release accurate figures, of course.

We need someone with a high profile to announce a run for president in 2028. A scientist! A Ph.D. in astrophysics. Someone that will dog the shit out of Trump and Musk and keep pointing out their lies and bullshit. A damn-near atheist to boot that can quote Scripture. A writer of books, a TV personality. A smooth-talking self-deprecator that can win arguments in multiple fields.

Check out Heather Cox Richardson's latest

I know she is also on YouTube, but I don't think her latest (published today, Jan 21) is up on that platform yet. I watched this one on Facebook. The link below might or might not take you there. Her post certainly presents a "Way Forward" for Democrats and opposing Trump.

Anyway, Heather goes into some detail about Trump's first day. If I could encapsulate it, it would be she said:
1) don't despair
2) don't shut up
3) get active locally

Sounds simple, but I have been pretty detached lately, and yes, I have tasted despair. I think that is now over. Heather's latest video is just over 1 hour long and worth it. I listened to it today as I was cleaning up the kitchen and doing odd things around the house. After listening to this, I feel energized again, and it is time to raise some hell.
