"Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan continually called out Donald Trump's choice to head the FDA on Sunday morning for making blanket statements about vaccine studies and undergoing a conversion to align himself with HHS head Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

With Dr. Marty Makakry batting away the host's questions on why he's dismissing previous studies of the safety of vaccines, Brennan put him on the spot about pregnant women.

"We're saying it's going to be between a doctor and a patient until that committee meets or more experts weigh in, or we get some clinical data. If there's zero clinical data, you're opining. I mean, you're just, it's a theory, and so we don't want to put out an absolute recommendation for kids with no clinical data at this point," he stated while talking about inoculating children," he told the host.

C-SPAN caller torches 'liar' Mike Johnson: Did Jesus have a work requirement?

A caller to C-SPAN's Washington Journal program accused House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) of being a "liar" because he espouses Christianity while stripping aid from impoverished people.

During Sunday's program, an Oklahoma Democrat named Joe called in to speak to right-wing pundit Erick Erickson.

"I want to come down to the granular level of some of the teachings in the Bible," Joe said. "And one of the things that's clear in the Bible that God hates, literally hates, it says this in Proverbs, is a lying tongue. And the Republican Party, though they take oaths on the Bible to come into office, they just lie constantly."

Trump official put on the spot for saying he wants federal workers traumatized

During an interview on CNN with host Dana Bash, Donald Trump's budget director was out on the spot for previous comments he made about wanting federal workers to be "in trauma."

Appearing on "State of the Union" to defend the current budget bill coming out of the Republican-controlled NHouse, Bash switched it up on OMB Director Russell Vought by playing a clip of him glibly attacking civil servants.

In the clip he can be heard stating, "“We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected. When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains. We want their funding to be shut down so that the EPA can’t do all of the rules against our energy industry because they have no bandwidth financially to do so. We want to put them in trauma.”

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) was criticized after she offered a "haunting" response to a constituent concerned about health care cuts in the Republican budget bill, and now she's doubling down by giving a faux apology.

The Iowa Republican held a town hall Friday morning in Parkersburg, where she repeatedly expressed frustration with angry constituents who demanded answers on proposed cuts to Medicaid and food stamp benefits and asked pointed questions about Congress putting a check on president Donald Trump's power, reported KCRG-TV.

She also angered some in the audience when she defended rolling back benefits for those she said were not supposed to be eligible for assistance.

CNN conservative Scott Jennings went on a tirade on Saturday morning after "Table for Five" host Abby Phillip pointed out that Donald Trump is trying to use his presidential bully pulpit to enrich himself in his battle with CBS.

Near the conclusion of the Saturday morning show, the viral Wake Forrest University commencement speech given by "60 Minutes" host Scott Pelley took center stage which led to the two butting heads.

Reflecting on Pelley telling the graduates, "You are the educated. You are the compassionate. You are the fierce defenders of democracy, the seekers of truth, the vanguard against ignorance. You are millions strong across our land. I might be sorry that you were picked by history for this role. But maybe that was the plan. Hard times are going to make you better and going to make you stronger," Trump's lawsuit was hotly debated.

Defiance: CDC directly contradicts direct demand from RFK Jr.

Amid reports of a new Covid-19 subvariant spreading in several U.S. states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday failed to update guidance on receiving vaccines against the coronavirus that contradicted a controversial recent announcement from the nation's top health official.

The CDC's schedule for vaccines for children aged 6 months to 17 years retained the Covid-19 shot, advising parents and doctors to engage in "shared clinical decision-making" when determining if a child should be vaccinated—meaning children can receive the shots if their parents and physicians agree.

That guidance contradicts a statement from Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. earlier this week. Kennedy claimed Tuesday that there was a "lack of any clinical data to support the repeat booster strategy in children" for Covid vaccines as he announced, alongside National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Dr. Martin Makary, that the shots would no longer be recommended for pregnant women or healthy children.

'Never met a poor person that created jobs': GOP senator mocks tax cut question

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) dismissed a student's question about the Republican tax cut bill by mocking poor people.

The Wisconsin Republican spoke Thursday at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he defended the extension of president Donald Trump's tax cuts when one of the students asked why the GOP bill focused on spending cuts instead of raising revenue to balance the budget.

"I'm a young person, and in your talk you talked a lot about how the deficit represents a transfer of wealth from young to old, and I'm sensitive to that," said student Joseph Hennessy. "Of course, you can't spend money that you don't have. But, of course, there are two ways to reduce the deficit. One is to cut spending and the other is to increase revenue. So I'm wondering why you're only focused on one half of that equation, cutting spending, and not opposing these massive tax cuts that disproportionately go to the wealthiest Americans who really don't need that tax cut and why we're looking at cutting things like Medicaid and funding for critical scientific research on the back of that."

'Should be embarrassed': Trump admin slaps back as it's caught in major lie

The Trump administration knew that the vast majority of the 238 Venezuelan immigrants it sent to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador in mid-March had not been convicted of crimes in the United States before it labeled them as terrorists and deported them, according to U.S. Department of Homeland Security data that has not been previously reported.

President Donald Trump and his aides have branded the Venezuelans as “rapists,” “savages,” “monsters” and “the worst of the worst.” When multiple news organizations disputed those assertions with reporting that showed many of the deportees did not have criminal records, the administration doubled down. It said that its assessment of the deportees was based on a thorough vetting process that included looking at crimes committed both inside and outside the United States.

But the government’s own data, which was obtained by ProPublica, The Texas Tribune and a team of journalists from Venezuela, showed that officials knew that only 32 of the deportees had been convicted of U.S. crimes and that most were nonviolent offenses, such as retail theft or traffic violations.
