Manhattan DA launches investigation into sexual assault allegation against Eric Swalwell

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said on Saturday it is investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Rep. Eric Swalwell, a day after CNN reported that a former staffer for the congressman accused him of having sex with her when she was unable to consent.

“We urge survivors and anyone with knowledge of these allegations to contact our Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373,” the DA’s office said in a statement to CNN. “Our specially trained prosecutors, investigators and counselors are well-equipped to help you in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered manner.”

The former staffer told CNN that she was heavily intoxicated after a night of drinking with Swalwell in New York City in April 2024 when she woke up to him having sex with her in his hotel bed.

“I was pushing him off of me, saying no,” the woman told CNN of the incident, which she said happened after she had stopped working in Swalwell’s office. “He didn’t stop.”

Your own personal Jesus...

This may be a fundamentally new kind of sin blending blasphemy, idolatry, divination, and simony, among others. Those who are not horrified at this may be entirely lacking in authentic religious awareness and feeling.

I’m very proud of my wife for sharing the details she did. I’m disgusted by all of it. She found herself in one of those moments where she didn’t care what she lost if it helped one other person. The reality is the truth don’t care who tells it, but she told it. Love you @allysammarco.bsky.social

I hate to break this to you guys, but for anybody who seems to think that there’s some weird timing here going on or something like that and this is not real. This is all in writing. He did this in DM‘s and text messages and so forth and it is very very very real.

I wish this was not the case. I am somebody who believed in him and I am somebody who learned a lot about him myself today and I am very proud of Ally.

And one of the most admirable things I can ever say about her is that even after the first report came out, she said yes please use my name on the record. She hoped that if she put her name on the record that would help others whether it was to speak out or stop this from happening to somebody else.

For the record, this was not hearsay. She provided receipts to reporters. And if any of you know Pamela Brown at CNN, you know she is a serious reporter.

A former staffer of Rep. Eric Swalwell, a leading Democratic candidate for California governor, says that the congressman raped her when she was heavily intoxicated and left her bruised and bleeding, an allegation Swalwell strongly denies.

“I was pushing him off of me, saying no,” the woman told CNN of the incident, which she said happened in 2024 after she had stopped working in Swalwell’s office. “He didn’t stop.”

She said it was the second time Swalwell had nonconsensual sexual contact with her while she was drunk. In 2019, when she was still working for him, she said she woke up naked with him in a hotel room after a night of heavy drinking. She said she had no memory of what happened but could feel physically that they’d had sexual contact.

Three other women who spoke with CNN also alleged various kinds of sexual misconduct by the Democratic congressman – including Swalwell sending them unsolicited explicit messages or nude photos.

Trump Promises Mass Pardons to Staff Before Leaving Office

Source: WSJ

“I’ll pardon everyone who has come within 200 feet of the Oval,” Trump said in a recent meeting to laughs, according to people with knowledge of the comments. That radius appears to be expanding as the president repeats the line. Another person who met with Trump earlier this year said the president quipped about pardoning anyone who had come within 10 feet.

In one conversation with advisers in the dining room next to the Oval Office last year, Trump said he would host a news conference and announce mass pardons before he left office, some of the people said. The people said they weren’t aware of specific pardons being offered to specific people for specific acts.

The unconditional power to pardon is one of the most sweeping powers offered to the presidency. This term, Trump has wielded clemency far differently than any other president, dispensing some 1,600 grants to date. Many have gone to allies and donors, or those who had hired them, coming after a social pull-aside or a round of golf. Some have received bipartisan criticism, including one to a crypto billionaire whose company boosted Trump’s own digital-currency company, and another to a former Honduran president convicted of conspiring with cartels to ship cocaine to the U.S. In Trump’s first term, he signed fewer than 250 pardons and commutations.

The president has repeatedly raised the specter of pardons with White House aides and other administration officials, particularly when staff have suggested they could face prosecution or congressional investigations over decisions, people familiar with the comments said. Trump is known to joke about matters that he later seriously pursues, and the frequent references have led some aides to believe he is serious about the pardons, too.

Amanda Ungaro on X: Hello Melania, I was around you for 20 years.... Because I will expose everything I know.

Hello Melania, I was around you for 20 years. You knew I was inside ICE, and you know what hurts after all this time? I stayed close to your family — your mother and your father — not because of you, but because of them, at
events and everything else.

So shut your mouth when speaking about me.

Because I will expose everything I know.

Follow this thread.

Most likely, and of course, all speculation right now, this is why Melania did her 6 min statement today.

Amanda Ungaro was brought here as a 17-year-old model. She flew to NYC on Epstein's private plane.

Paolo Zampolli, the modeling agent who allegedly introduced Melania to Trump in 1998, fathered Ungaro's child. They were engaged in an ugly custody battle. Zampolli leaned on ICE and his Trump connections to DEPORT Ungaro.

Zampolli also allegedly represented Melania when she was a model...

Detroit whistleblower fired after reporting alleged drunken meltdown by top DDOT official

The city of Detroit fired its chief bus safety officer Wednesday after he blew the whistle on a top Department of Transportation official for allegedly showing up drunk at a transit center, berating employees, assaulting a security guard, and driving off in a city-issued car.

Mayor Mary Sheffield’s administration notified DDOT Chief Safety Officer Corey Holmes, who oversees safety for buses and their passengers, that he was terminated for “misrepresentation of authority” after conducting his own investigation into the erratic behavior of DDOT Chief of Staff Jennie Whitfield.

DDOT Executive Director Robert Cramer suspended Holmes on March 9, just six hours after Metro Times began asking questions about Whitfield.

The chain of events began shortly before midnight in late January, when security guards and other employees said Whitfield barged into the downtown transit center while appearing to be inebriated, harassed employees, poked a guard in the chest, and nearly fell from a balcony while chasing a pigeon around the building with a bottle of water.

When a security guard convinced Whitfield to leave, he urged her passenger, a former Detroit General Services Department employee, to drive Whitfield home “so she could get some rest,” according to witness statements. Instead, Whitfield drove the car away, insisting “she was ok to drive herself home,” the guard wrote in a complaint.
