UK stops sharing some intel with US over Trumps drug boat strikes in Caribbean: report
Chaos continues off the coast of Venezuela as U.S. administration refuses to name suspects killed in attacks
-snip-
CNN reported on Tuesday that the intelligence pause began over a month ago, with British officials reportedly agreeing with the international consensus that the strikes are illegal. In a move that has blurred the lines between law enforcement and military action, the Trump administration has directed lethal strikes against numerous vessels it claims are being operated by drug smugglers designated narcoterrorists by the U.S. government in recent months.
Dozens have died in the strikes, with their identities not made public by the White House or Pentagon. An Associated Press investigation, piecing together evidence from the ground in Venezuela, identified some of those killed in the strikes and confirmed some of their involvement in small-scale local operations for drug cartels, typically on a temporary basis.
The news outlet separately reported that Canadian officials have made clear to the US that it does not want its intelligence being used to help target boats for deadly strikes.
A total of 76 people have been confirmed killed by the U.S. government in the strikes, which the White Houses critics say amount to extrajudicial killings. Those targeted are not afforded trials or any form of due process. The U.S. government has also designated top officials in Venezuelas government as the alleged leaders of Cartel de los Soles, a group it claims is involved in the drug trade.

Thailand suspends "peace deal" with Cambodia, brokered two weeks ago by Trump
Source: Telegrafi
Thailand says it is suspending implementation of its "peace agreement" with neighboring Cambodia over a disputed border - just two weeks after Donald Trump presided over its signing.
Thailand's announcement came after soldiers were injured in a landmine explosion near the Cambodian border in Sisaket province, a government spokesman said, foreign media reported, according to the Telegraph.
Cambodia has said it remains committed to the agreement, which is supposed to bring lasting peace after border clashes that left more than 40 dead in July.
The two sides signed the agreement - which Thailand has refused to call a peace treaty - in October during a ceremony with the US president in Malaysia.

There goes that peace prize. Again.
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen Who Caved on Shutdown Says Chuck Schumer Knew All Along
Senator Jeanne Shaheen just threw the minority leader under the bus.
Senator Jeanne Shaheen revealed that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer knew the entire time about the plan for a few Democrats to capitulate to Republicans on the government shutdown.
-snip-
Senator Chuck Schumer, your leader in the Senate, said I cannot support a continuing resolution that fails to address health care, I am voting no. Did you do this outside leadership, and was there a big push for you not to join the others and break the 60 threshold? Kilmeade asked.
No, we kept leadership informed throughout, Shaheen responded. And I think its important to remember whos responsible for why we got into this shutdown. We are here because we are concerned about the health care costs rising significantly on millions of Americans, and we didnt have any indication before the shutdown started that our Republican colleagues were willing to address it.
Aside from serving as further proof that the Democrats are failing to act as an opposition party in any meaningful way, Shaheens comments also reveal one of two possible scenarios. Either Schumer was scheming to end the shutdown behind the scenes, only pretending to be against it while pinning the blame on the eight people who arent up for reelection anytime soon, or he has no control over his party. Either way, it proves the need for Democrats to jettison the minority leader.

This only confirms my suspicions from the start. And the suspicions of many others who post on different message boards, mainly Reddit. The 8 were sacrificial lambs.
Thank you Ro Khanna
Rep. Ro Khanna: Schumer 'should be replaced'
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) is calling on Senate Democrats to replace Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) as leader after eight members of the Senate Democratic caucus voted Sunday to begin the process of reopening the federal government.
Khanna, a progressive Democrat who represents Silicon Valley, argued on social media that if Schumer cant keep his caucus unified against a government funding bill that doesnt extend enhanced health insurance subsidies, then he shouldnt lead Senate Democrats.
Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you cant lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for? Khanna wrote on X.
Progressive Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) also took a shot at Schumer, noting the Democratic leader did not endorse the partys nominee for mayor in New York, Zohran Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, nor did he disclose for whom he cast his ballot.

Zohran Mamdani drops the mask
The mayor-elect divides New Yorkers into two groups: the oppressed and their oppressors.
November 8, 2025 at 6:00 a.m. ESTToday at 6:00 a.m. EST
A new era of class warfare has begun in New York, and no one is more excited than Generalissimo Zohran Mamdani. Witness the mayor-elects change of character since his Tuesday election victory.
Mamdani ran an upbeat campaign, with a nice-guy demeanor and perpetual smile papering over a long history of divisive and demagogic statements. New Yorkers periodically checking in on politics could understandably believe that he simply wanted to bring the city together and make it more affordable. That interpretation became much harder after his victory speech.
Across 23 angry minutes laced with identity politics and seething with resentment, Mamdani abandoned his cool disposition and made clear that his view of politics isnt about unity. It isnt about letting people build better lives for themselves. It is about identifying class enemies from landlords who take advantage of tenants to the bosses who exploit workers and then crushing them. His goal is not to increase wealth but to dole it out to favored groups. The word growth didnt appear in the speech, but President Donald Trump garnered eight mentions.

They are confusing Mamdani with Trump to put it kindly. It's little wonder no self-respecting journalist put their name to this crap and they're hiding behind "editorial board". I'm so glad I cancelled my subscription a while back.
Zohran Mamdani wins Black and youth vote to make history as New York City's next mayor
Tuesday marked the highest voter turnout in New York City in more than three decades, with more than two million voters, according to early vote counts. Mamdanis victory is a strong endorsement of his campaign platform, which aims to raise taxes on the wealthy to address the citys affordability crisis, including the high cost of housing, child care and groceries.
-snip-
Mamdanis economic agenda was a clear winning message for the new mayor-elect, who assembled a diverse coalition of voters to secure Tuesdays win. According to early exit polling data, Mamdani overwhelmingly won the youth vote, garnering 78% of 18-29-year-olds.
Mamdani also won a majority of the Black vote (55%), increasing his support from Black New Yorkers in the primary election by more than 20%. In the final weeks of the campaign, the Ugandan immigrant of South Asian descent campaigned in Black churches, barbershops, and even nightclubs.
-snip-
What theyre concerned about is how am I going to keep more money in my pocket, how am I going to put food on my table, and how can make [New Yorkers] more affordable and more accessible to all? Brown told theGrio. I think were seeing his rise because he has stayed on message and not really gotten wavered. Even when there have been attacks on him, hes stayed true to that message.

Zohran Mamdani: Andrew Cuomo's #1 Hater (and NYC's Next Mayor?) (Josh Johnson)
No, like all their efforts, they've spent so much money. Zoran himself has said, "Y'all y'all are spending way more money on ads trying to campaign against me than I was even going to tax you".
-snip-
One of the things that Trump and other people have said about Zoran is that he's a communist. He says he's a socialist, but he's a communist. And maybe that would have worked like 20 years ago. That might have worked, but we are a capitalist country. We all live in capitalism and it's going poorly enough for enough people that they're willing to try anything. So, calling someone a communist, this sort of Russia red, China red scare, it just doesn't hit the same when people are working jobs and still can't afford to feed their families.
And then along comes someone with not just a lot of energy, but a lot of hope that says it doesn't have to be this way. Look at what they do over there. If we just did what they do over there, we'd be able to have more things for us, which is our money anyway. A lot of people have this mis misconception that the money that a corporation makes is all theirs and was all earned. But they got that money from how much they pay their workers, how much they actually provide for their consumers. And you see that when left up to their own devices, they skimp on, let's say it's just food. They skimp on ingredients. They skimp on workers. they skimp on. And then one day when they have a billion-dollar valuation, we look at them as if to tax them would be taking their billion dollars instead of just taking back what is owed to the people that made them great, you know? And so I think that what is so scary for people about Zoran that really don't like him is that he is a reminder to a lot of people that you are a citizen. You're not a consumer. You are a constituent. You're not a customer. Like the story that gets told now, especially by our politicians, is that if you ask for what is owed to you, what is actually yours, you're asking for a handout, but you already paid for these things and you pay them. So, the idea that these people would all stand together in unison against this person who just wants to make the bus free should tell you something. And all of them stand together against him in the way that they are with all the money they're throwing at him and with all the fear-mongering that they're doing, it it's having the opposite effect because now to vote for him even if you don't even like them you get to stick it to a billionaire people you already don't like. So, what you've accidentally done is made voting for him like kind of cool as well.
Mamdani's win is bigger than New York. Now Democrats have a clear path forward.
Opinion by Sara Pequeño, USA TODAY
-snip-
With his win, its clear we arent just watching a rising political star were watching the party shift in real time.
Mamdanis win signals to the most powerful people in the Democratic Party that they can, in fact, win elections by focusing on working-class issues. They can run bold, radical campaigns and even run the risk of being labeled communists, so long as they have a clear vision for what the future can look like for everyday people.
-snip-
What is remarkable is that Mamdani was able to keep this lead in spite of limited backing from the Democratic Party and huge amounts of spending against him by billionaires. Even though he has had the publics support, the systems that normally support Democratic candidates were not on his side.
-snip-
Democrats would be wise to take this win seriously, instead of chalking it up to New York Citys liberal bias. This is a sign that the party can win, so long as its candidates appeal to the bases most enthusiastic voters and focus on issues affecting the working class, like affordability and housing. These are issues that resonate beyond the five boroughs, and Democrats must recognize that instead of using the same playbook theyve worked from for the past few election cycles.

Trump's PBS replacement features Columbus telling kids that slavery was "no big deal"
The Trump administration is now seeking to replace PBS with Prager University, a far-right propaganda organization that isnt actually a university.
One of their kids videos has Christopher Columbus telling them that slavery was no big deal and better than being killed.
